Platypus News!
We have platypuses in the creek at Wendon Way, Bridgeman Downs. Last year we had platy-spotting events. This year we want to work with others to revegetate the creek bed to protect their habitat.
EXCITING PLATYPUS NEWS
Brisbane City Council are planning to improve the platypus habitat at Wendon Way, revegetating the creek beds to hold the soil in place and create more biodiverse habitat.
Part of that will be the establishment of a new Bushcare group under the umbrella of North Brisbane Catchments and Brisbane City Council.
Once established, bushcare is often just a couple of hours a month - weeding, planting, etc - many hands make light work. It’s also a great chance to meet people, have great conversations and learn more about nature, while doing good for our environment.
BCC need to see how many people are interested in participating before this goes ahead. If you would be interested in being a part of the new bushcare group or helping in any way, please add to the comments below or send me a message.
The Australian Conservation Foundation Platy Project continues with events in September this year.
A great initiative prompted by a new attendance at ACF looking to contribute to sustainability and the environment. I will attend the first event. Maybe this will become the fifth Bushcare group I participate with! Who wouldn’t want to help the platypus!
