March events: Come and say hello
In March, we will hold our monthly verge garden visit and casual coffee at Deception Bay, and we'll have stall at the Brisbane City Council street tree planting event at Bridgeman Downs.
Casual Verge Visit and Coffee: Deception Bay
This month we are going to Deception Bay to see the third demonstration verge garden. Moreton Bay Council created these demonstration gardens to show suitable local native plants in 2025, and now they are offering funding for community projects.
These projects could be fairly straightforward like our group project to raise awareness about what we can all do to increase biodiversity and shade to reduce urban heat, or much bigger and more diverse collaborative projects. See this article for more on the different types of projects: “Let there be cake!” from the Shady Lanes Project.
Please come along on the 16th if you’re curious and want a chat, or contact us by reply email if you’re interested in working on this as an individual or as a organisation.
Where: 18 George St, Deception Bay, QLD 4508
When: Monday 16 March 2026 from 10:00am - 10:45am
followed by casual coffee and discussion at a nearby cafe
BCC Tree Planting at Bridgeman Downs
Brisbane City Council is holding a community street tree planting event at Bridgeman Downs on Saturday 28th March.
We’ll have a stall where you can find out more about our plans for 2026, the Wendon Way Bushcare group, and let us know about your interests and concerns and why you’ve joined this group.
