Coming up in June 2025
We had a great day at the Sustainable BNE Festival last weekend. In June, we'll have a stall at Queensland Day in Banyo/Nudgee, a planning meeting, and we'll be visiting Jenny's verge at Deagon.
Many thanks to Jenny and Richard for helping on the stall at the Sustainable BNE Festival at Roma Street Parkland. We were all kept busy with the lots of people coming up to talk about nature, biodiversity, verge gardens, sustainability, active transport and more. We do this every year. (It was previously called the Green Heart Fair held in Victoria Park.)
June Events
We have three events coming up. The annual stall at Banyo/Nudgee, a planning meeting, and a verge visit.
Queensland Day - June 7th
On Saturday 7th June, we’ll have a stall at the Queensland Day celebrations at Nudgee. This time, we have to supply and set up our own tent, table, chairs, etc.
If you’re in the area, please come and say hello. If you can help on the stall, please contact us or comment below. We look forward to catching up with the Banyo District Verge Gardeners and other locals we met during the Banyo Project.
Planning Meeting - June 15th
The year is half way through and it's time to draw breath, reflect on what's worked, and decide our priorities for the second part of 2025. We’ll also look at the outcome of the election and making contact with new and continuing representatives in our various electorates.
If you are new to the group or are interested in being more involved, please come along. RSVP essential.
When: Sunday 15 June 2025, 03:00pm - 05:00pm
Where: Bracken Ridge Library
Afternoon tea provided.
Verge Visit - June 21st
What do you do when your verge is all grass and there is no concrete path? You still have to leave a path for pedestrians. And all that grass means lots of edges.
This month we’ll be visiting Jenny’s verge. It is a very large verge at the beginning of a conversion. No concrete path adds to the challenge. The initial steps have been to plant around the new street trees. Here’s a recent story about this verge.
