City of Moreton Bay Grants for Verge Gardens
If you or your group are in the Moreton Bay council region, and you are interested in applying for a grant, check this out.
City of Moreton Bay is promoting the benefits of scaled verge gardens through group projects. The Our Healthy Environments Grants (OHEG) Program aims to facilitate this by encouraging community organisations (through grants of up to $50,000) to work with residents to deliver biodiverse verge gardens at the streetscape scale in locations in high urban heat areas that are within or adjacent to mapped ecological corridors.

Moreton Bay council has established Demonstration Sites (we’ve visited two so far as part of our group verge project) and an Information Pack to guide residents and community organisations on their biodiverse verge garden journey. Find the council verge garden policy and demonstration gardens on City of Moreton Bay’s website here
Applications for this round close on 31 March, 2026.
An Engagement Session is being held at Kumbartcho Environment Centre on 27 February 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm or contact their Grants team (grants@moretonbay.qld.gov.au), to discuss project ideas.

See the reports on our visit to the Brendale garden in November 2025, and Margate in February 2026. We plan on visiting the Deception Bay garden in March.

This is such an easy idea to begin developing a large scale pollinator pathway / habitat corridor without a lot of background effort.
Without further research and planning it is possible that key endangered species and their supporting flora will be overlooked, but hey! what a great effort. I have suggested a similar grant plan for my local council.
