April Community Conversation: Placemaking
Placemaking is promoted as a solution to everything - building community, sustainability, regenerating local economies, change-making etc. But what does placemaking mean?
Please join us for a thoughtful conversation as we explore what a better future could look like, and ask "how can we get there?"
What is placemaking anyway?
Placemaking is promoted as a solution to everything - building community, sustainability, regenerating local economies, change-making etc. But what does placemaking mean?
We’ll start with three perspectives from a panel with very different backgrounds:
-
: will talk about placemaking within the context of architecture and professional placemaking from her experience designing stadiums, airports, buildings, etc.-
: will talk about placemaking within a transport context and the effects of transport systems on communities and their places-
: will talk about placemaking within a natural context and how “bumping” places are the starting point for action on social and environmental sustainabilityCould these different perspectives complement each other to enable the collaborative approach needed for the changes we need to create a more sustainable future for our region?
